All cotton fabrics can be easily screen printed. Kooldri and polyester
fabrics require extra care to be taken. We recommend that a test shirt or
strike off is done to check the desired effect is achievable,. We also
recommend that Kooldri fabrics are not stacked on top of one another after going
through the drier as they hold heat. Long period of heat may cause dyes to
transfer. Also a good base coat is also essential.
Machine Embroidery
A term that can be used to describe a specially designed, computerized,
embroidery or sewing-embroidery machine to automatically create a design from a
pre-made pattern that is input into the machine. Auspirit recommend a cut
away backing over a tear away, as they will hold their shape after laundering
and any fine embroidery stitching from perforating the fabric.
Sublimation
The basic dye sublimation process uses special heat-sensitive dyes to print
graphics and text onto special transfer paper. The paper is then placed on
a "sublimation" item and both are placed into a heat press. When
the heating cycle is completed, the image on the paper has been transferred to
the item and has actually reformed into or underneath the coated
surface. Run your finger across the surface of a sublimated plate,
mug, or any coated product and you will feel nothing. The reason for this
is that sublimation is always done on a polyester, polymer, or polymer-coated
item. At high temperatures, the solid dye converts into a gas without ever
becoming liquid. The same temperature, opens the pores of the polymer and
allows the gas to enter. When the temperature drops, the pores close and
the gas reverts to a solid state. It has become a part of the
polymer. This is why dye sublimation can't be done on natural materials,
such as 100% cotton. Natural fibers and non-coated materials which have no
"pores" to open. This process is done on white fabric only
before manufacture.
Cool Dry Sport
KoolDri creates a cool, dry comfort for high exertion / high climate living in

moisture and quickly dry when exposed to air;

breathable;
KoolDri is a yarn and not a material and can be knitted into various forms such
as micro-mesh, pique knit, herringbone, waffle etc. etc.

Cotton
Cotton is a natural fibre that has been the backbone of the textile industry
for many years.
Cotton , because of it's chemistry makeup is considered to be a versatile and
desirable fashion choice for young men & women today and conveys the
positive attributes; comfort, fashionability and easy-care.
Cotton growing for our particular textile needs include physics, chemistry,
plant science, and textile technology. This includes a more complete
understanding of the relationship of water to cotton and its impact on fiber
processing characteristics. Cotton fibre can be knitted into many
different fabrics such as jersey, interlock, pique and a selection of other
fabrics that can be used in the garment production arena.
Polyester
Polyester is a man made derivative of petroleum. Polyester for textiles
resembles fluffy white clouds before being transformed into yarns.
Polyester and or blends have a greater retention of colour than cotton does and
stays colour fast for longer.
Maintenance of polyester or polyester and cotton garments is less consuming
than 100% cotton.
Laundering
By observing the wash and care instructions in your garment, you will be
prolonging the life of your garment. Differing fabrics behave in different
ways, so ensure you follow the care by strictly adhering to the laundering care
guide either sewn in the side seam or on the reverse of the neck label, the care
that you give your garment will ensure a long presentable life. Cotton
based garments will fade over time with laundering and water conditions and
detergents may accelerate the process. Polyester is a man made product
That can either be knitted or woven with other yarns to make lower maintenance
garments that need less direct care and hold their colour and shape.
Specific requirements on your care labels are put there for a purpose.
After years of industry trials and tribulations, recommended garment care
instructions were formulated to ensure the garment you get, continues to display
all of the features you expected within normal wear and tear conditions.
Adverse treatment to that recommended on your care instructions may result in
the garment changing unexpectedly. As you will be aware, a cotton garment
can shrink noticeable once heat is applied, (i.e. if the garment is dried in a
tumble dryer). Ever touched a print smudge on a garment with a hot
iron? If you garment has been printed, we recommend that you iron it on
the reverse side. Many care instructions include how to treat simple
icons and text and advise you of the dos and don'ts.
We suggest that you take particular note of the care and washing instructions
pertaining to the individual properties of that garment, to ensure that these
garments continue to meet your expectations.
